Dorothy
Ross was the first president of the New York State Society
of Medical Assistants. In 1992 Mrs. Ross donated funds to
set up a $500.00 scholarship award each year to a deserving
medical assisting student. The winner of the scholarship is
announced at the annual convention of the society each year
in April.
The past
presidents of the society have collected money from the attendees
at the annual convention of the society to keep the funds
going. The medical assistants attending the convention each
year have been generous in their donations.
In September
of each year the Dorothy Ross Scholarship Committee sends
application forms to all CAAHEP accredited medical assisting
schools in New York State asking that the medical assisting
instructors inform their students of this $500.00 scholarship.
If you are a medical assisting student and have not heard
about this scholarship, please ask your instructor if he/she
has a Dorothy Ross Scholarship Application Form that you can
fill out and apply to the scholarship committee for consideration.
